State of Illinois Data Science Program

Welcome Illinois learner!

The Internet of Things Talent Consortium is pleased to partner with the State of Illinois in leading the effort to develop the talents and skills necessary for success in the rapidly growing IoT workspace. The offering of the Data Science program of study, through the IoT Talent Consortium and in partnership with Microsoft, is an exciting first step in our efforts.

DATA SCIENCE

Addressing the predicted data analyst talent shortage of 1.5 million by 2018, individuals who complete the Data Science track of the Microsoft Professional Program will develop the technical and functional skills that employers look for.

  • Through this comprehensive program of study you will be introduced to the fundamentals of Data Science, learn what it takes to become a Data Scientist and immediately start to develop your skills through hands-on labs.
  • As you progress through the program you will master the core principles of Data Science, learn programming languages, and gain experience using cutting edge Data Science tools.
  • The program concludes with a capstone course allowing you to showcase your skills and knowledge by developing and deploying a solution to a real-world data science problem.

The time to complete the self-paced program will vary from student to student and was designed to be completed in 16 - 32 hours per course. Upon earning a Verified Certificate for each of the 9 courses ($49 - $99 per course) and successfully completing the final Capstone project you earn your Microsoft Professional Program Certificate in Data Science and your Data Science badge from the IoT Talent Consortium showing prospective employers that you have the skills they need.
